Sweet Sour Panna With Moong Dal Chilla

 Ingredients  


1 cup split Moong dal ( yellow or with skin ) 

1” Ginger piece washed and cut  

6 green Chillies washed n crown removed  

Pinch of Heeng  

1/2 cup :tamarind and jaggery paste 

 1tsp Chaat Masala 

 Few (Pudina) Mint chopped  

 Coriander leaves chopped  

1/4 tsp roasted Cumin (Jeera} powder  

1/4 tsp Chilli powder  

Black salt  (Himalayan salt)  

Lime juice  



 Method  


1. Wash and soak Dal for 1.5 hrs  Drain and if using the green one. (remove the skin off by continuous washing and discarding the skin.). 

2. Grind the dal after draining the water with the Ginger , Chilies and Heeng into a slightly coarse paste , using little water at a time  Make sure it’s not very finely ground  Add more water and make it into a batter  The batter should be like a dosa/ chilla  

3. To this add the Salt , and mix it with the hand till nice n airy. 

4. On a hot pan make dosa/chilla out of this batter  cooking on both sides  

5. Cool it and cut it into small squares or strips   

6. Next make SWEET SOUR PAANA   

7. Dilute the Tamarind Jaggery paste with about 1/2 ltr chilled water  

8. Add the Chaat masala, Jeera powder , Chilli powder, Salt , Rock Salt , Pudina ( Mint ) Coriander leaves and Lime juice  

9. Mix it well  

10. Adjust the spices as per your taste  

11. Add the Moong daal chilla squares/ strips to this  

12. Keep it refrigerated   Enjoy it on a hot summer day !!
